For my last Boston Fashion Week experience I was very excited to attend the Fashion Exposé with the ever talented free-lance writer G. Valentino Ball. Thanks so much for the invitation!

The show had been delayed due to rain, but you could see that they had worked in a flurry to get it up and running a few hours later. This was the first time I had seen an event resemble other fashion weeks around the country with a white tent, reserved seating, and press pit.  We took our seats in the second row and I surveyed the scene…first off the press pit was some of the most gorgeous photographers and journalist I have ever seen! Fedoras, fitted suits, oversized glasses…dag the show hadn’t even started and I already had an eye full of fall must-haves. Big shout out to photographer Martini of Beyond Boston Chic who was looking very fashion forward – Fab! Check out her blogsite for more photos!

Once the show began (over a half-an-hour late) it started with fan-fair with a ballet point-shoe introduction for the Tracy Osimbonidi accessories collection. It featured large round bobbles, chunky pieces, chains, and leaves in stone shades.

I was a huge fan of the second collection by Kendall V. Bretto, which featured the wrap bracelet and it appears that we should be wearing them higher this year; go ahead and push it all the way up to the elbow. I really like the detail in the back where instead of the traditional clasp they used ribbons which cascaded down the back of the models necks.

The highly anticipated part of the accessory department was from Project Runway contestant Korto Momolu whose works had Tibetan influenced pieces, with nomadic feathers and purses. The hair by Shanita Clark finished off the look with colorful yarns twisted and intricately woven.

We had a lengthy intermission as there were technical difficulties which continued to persist throughout the evening. When I got a peek back stage it still had at least five inches of water from the rain storm earlier!! The make-up and hair department and especially the models did a fantastic job of making the show look flawless! Kudos!

ECC Life & Style

ECC Life & Style

ECC Life & Style gave us a taste of the mens wear (THANK YOU!) with crisply tailored suits and with male models that strode to match. Tweed is back in a big way…not so sure how I feel about it yet, but the pieces were well taylored.

Samantha Coles collection was full of metallic’s, with crinkly golds and stark platinums. Bubble dresses got dramatic flair in shades of silver and gold and dark snake skin and crocodile patterned leathers. A full length black leather netted piece was so hot I wanted to grab it off of the model as she walked the runway okay…so…maybe not, but it was fiyah! :)

Last, but certainly not least was the operatic display by Prajje Couture which oozed sheik sophistication. The most interesting thing about the collection was how finished it was. The detail was especially noticeable in the back of the garments from the suits that sported extra fabric that fell as a “v”-shape instead of the typical circular neck; to the way that the accessories were highlighted as the models turned for picture perfect moments. Even the pace of the models was slowed so that we could take in all of intricate beading and hemlines all of which were finished off impeccably.

This show was the best show I have have ever seen for Boston Fashion Week despite the technical difficulties that were beyond the organizers control. The show was professional, well executed and the design quality to matched the atmosphere.

Can’t wait ‘til next year!

An emphatic A!
