Saturday, April 4th is the 6th Annual Urban Walk for Haiti a free community event aimed at raising money and awareness for Haiti and the health initiatives of Dr. Paul Farmer and his world-renowned Boston-based organization, Partners In Health (PIH) that works in various sites throughout Haiti. PIH is a nonprofit whose model services are saving lives and improving the quality of life of the most vulnerable; they bring comprehensive care to communities in need in Haiti.
The Urban Walk for Haiti’s theme for 2009 is “Houses for Haiti”. Last year, four hurricanes ravaged Haiti rendering over one million natives homeless. PIH is currently building new, sturdier homes for those who suffered unimaginable losses. Money raised from the Urban Walk for Haiti this year will support their programs to build these sustainable brick homes in the most impoverished communities of the poverty-stricken country.
Use this experience to learn more about Haiti while having fun spending time with friends and family! All for a worthy cause! Come rain or shine (or snow)! The walk is 3-miles and begins at 12 p.m. at the St. Paul’s Church (29 Mt. Auburn St, Cambridge) Can’t make it out, but still want to support? Click here!!
